Connecting and Communicating My Innovation Plan

As technology continues to evolve, it is essential for students to stay ahead of the curve. By embracing new technologies, teachers can present new opportunities for students that will help transform schools into digital learning environments. I envision fostering a culture of creativity and risk-taking while promoting collaboration among students and educators and empowering learners with digital tools.

My innovation proposal is to implement the use of student ePortfolios to help them document their journey to learning to read. The goal is for students to read proficiently by the end of kindergarten. Implementing ePortfolios will be facilitated by having students take ownership of their learning. We will use the Seesaw application to track progress 2-3 times per quarter. Parents will also have access to monitor their child's literacy skills development. If successful,  the next step is to request that eportfolios are implemented across all kindergarten classes.

Through my studies (literature review),  I have discovered that ePortfolios are a great way to enhance student learning and engagement. I have created an innovation proposal and implementation outline that includes the benefits of eportfolios and how to implement them into our learning.

Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success-but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment, but may actually jeopardize success. With the right mindset, we can motivate our kids and help them to raise their grades, as well as reach our own goals-personal and professional. Dweck reveals what all great parents, teachers, CEOs, and athletes already know: how a simple idea about the brain can create a love of learning and a resilience that is the basis of great accomplishment in every area.
