What is the connection to your innovation plan or initiative?

  • This article discusses how educators can use video-based announcements in a K-12 learning environment to support student engagement and motivation. This article also focuses on how ePortfolios can be used to document students' learning progress from video-based announcements. We look to engage students more fully during morning announcements by examining the advantages that video-based learning provides students when creating an ePortfolio.

 

How can this information help others?

  • The information in this article can be helpful to others by providing educators with methods for integrating video-based announcements into student ePortfolios to enhance learning. Eportfolios can provide a way for teachers to collect and share student work and to receive feedback from other educators. Teachers can also use videos to model concepts or processes for their students, check for learning, or to create engaging and interactive lessons.

 

Lessons learned or hoped to learn?

  • There are several lessons that teachers can learn from an article covering the implementation of video-based morning announcements within student ePortfolios. We hope to show readers that embedding video-based content into an ePortfolio is a great way to provide a more engaging learning platform for students than traditional audio-based announcements.

    • Seesaw is a digital resource that allows students to post their work and receive teacher feedback. Teachers can also create assignments and quizzes for students to complete.

  • YouTube

    • Youtube is a digital resource that allows users to upload, view, share, and make comments on videos.

  • Microsoft Stream

    • Microsoft Stream is a business video service that helps organizations securely upload, share, and playback company videos. Employees and students can use Microsoft Stream to search for videos across the organization, catch up on specific topics with channels, discuss videos with colleagues and stay informed about new or popular content.

  • Canva

    • Canva is a user-friendly graphic design tool allowing users to create professional designs with little experience. The platform provides access to millions of royalty-free photos, illustrations, and templates, which can be used to create custom designs for logos, social media posts, banners, infographics, and more.

  • Final Cut Pro X

    • Final Cut Pro X is a digital resource that allows users to edit video and audio files. It includes several tools for trimming, adding effects, and exporting videos.

  • PlayPauseIt

    • PlayPosIt is a web-based interactive video player. It allows users to create and share annotations on videos and search for and play back specific portions of videos.
