Creating Significant Learning Environments

The focus on learning and creating significant learning environments will influence my innovation plan significantly. A saying goes, "If students don't care, then teaching won't matter." This means that in order for teaching to be effective, students must be motivated and engaged in the learning process. Creating significant learning environments is one way to keep students engaged. When learners feel like they are a part of something larger than themselves and their immediate surroundings, they are more likely to take ownership of their education and be active participants in the learning process.
My innovation plan proposes implementing ePortfolios into the classroom to increase literacy. By doing so, my goal is to create an active and engaging learning environment that utilizes technology to enhance learning, increase motivation for learning, and engage the learner.
A focus on learning can influence my innovation plan by ensuring that the plan's overall goal is to improve student outcomes by providing them with opportunities to reflect on and document their learning progress over time. The learning will also support ongoing assessment and evaluation processes designed to track the effectiveness of the ePortfolio implementation in relation to its intended goals.
