Contribution to Your Learning and Learning Environment 5304/5317

I took Leading Organizational Change  (5304) and Resources Digital Environments (5317) during this session. These classes are my 3rd round of courses in the ADL program. When I first took a look at the classes and all the assignments. I was worried about how I would complete all the tasks, especially since the course's weeks were shorter than usual. However, as the weeks continued, I became more confident about completing all the assignments on time.

What worked

In 5304, we focused on leading organizational change. We began with the 'why' assignment. This assignment was a great way to start the class. The "why" assignment helped recenter my focus, purpose, and journey as I seek change within our school. After reaffirming my "why," I completed the other assignments focusing on my innovation plan. During this class, I was able to remain disciplined and submit all projects on time. I worked closely with James and was able to give and receive feedback on assignments. I participated in all the discussion board posts and responded to various class members.

In 5317, I enjoyed working on the publication article assignment. I had the opportunity to team up with James and work on the article and Media assignment. We had two completely different plans, but when we looked at them, we found a way to merge them into an even better plan. James' innovation plan is to establish video-based morning announcements for K-12. Whereas my innovation plan is to incorporate ePortfolios into the classroom. It was nice to combine our research to support our integrated plan. It was a really great experience to work on the media assignment together. A few years ago, James and I experimented with making an unscripted podcast. On that podcast,  we asked and answered each other questions. Our Q&A podcast was just for fun. Occasionally we will listen to our podcast, mainly to see if we still have the same perspective on the things we discussed. Our media podcast assignment was fun as well, but it was much more structured than the one we did before. We were more organized on the media podcast and followed a much more detailed script.

In 5317, I was successful with completing all assignments on time. I posted and gave feedback to various group members in our discussion board group, such as Patrick Rodriguez, Lina Tenjo Tipton, Nastaja Tyler, and Ritanitra Williams.

What could be better

One thing I could do better for both classes is time management. I struggled with completing discussion posts in a timely manner. I know that the discussion boards are a critical part of the learning progress. It allows me to collaborate with other class members and learn from their perspectives. The reading assignments in the Leading Organizational Change (5304) course were pretty lengthy, and it was challenging to stay caught up, but I was able to complete them.

Overall I enjoyed both classes this session. I love that the ADL program encourages choice, which allows me to control my learning. I met all of the key contributions for both courses. I met all except one of the supporting contributions. Based on the information I have provided,  I am giving myself an 89% in both classes.
