Action Research Outline

I. What is the topic of your action research?

The topic of my action research begins with identifying the impact of ePortfolios on student learning outcomes, as well as exploring ways to optimize the implementation process to improve student engagement and academic performance.

II. What is the purpose of your study?

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of ePortfolios in enhancing student learning outcomes in elementary classrooms and to identify best practices for the successful implementation of ePortfolios in educational settings.

III. What is your research question?

How does the implementation of ePortfolios in elementary classrooms affect student learning outcomes in terms of academic achievement, self-reflection, and goal-setting?

IV. What is your research design (Qualitative, Quantitative, or Mixed Methods)? Why?

I will use a mixture of qualitative and quantitative data collection methods to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of ePortfolios on student learning outcomes.
A mixed methods research design will allow me to collect quantitative data (e.g., academic performance data) and qualitative data (e.g., student reflections and discussion) to provide a holistic view of the impact of ePortfolios on student learning outcomes.

V. What data will you collect?

My quantitative data will include progress monitoring with running records and district-level benchmark assessments. My qualitative data will consist of notes I take with students in small-group instruction and ePortfolio artifacts.

VI. What types of measurement will you use?

The outcomes of the running records and district benchmark assessments will be used for quantitative data analysis. The outcome of the small group notes and artifacts will be used as qualitative data analysis.

VII. What is the focus of your lit review?

My literature review will focus on the benefits of using ePortfolios in elementary classrooms to enhance student learning outcomes in terms of academic achievement, self-reflection, and goal-setting. The literature review will also explore best practices for the successful implementation of ePortfolios in educational settings.
