Leading Organizational Change 5304

After completing the course Leading Organizational Change, my knowledge of successful change management has increased drastically. My innovation plan is to implement ePortfolios into a kindergarten classroom learning environment, which means taking careful and calculated steps is vital. Our school is low-performing and desperately needs change, and starting with the foundational grade levels can produce positive outcomes in years to come. I began with an in-depth self-reflection by completing the What's Your Why project.

What's Your Why?

As I have stated before, the "why" assignment helped recenter my focus, purpose, and journey as I seek change within our school. The why for creating my innovation plan is every student should have opportunities to create, share, and reflect on their learning experiences while developing foundational education skills. To provide those opportunities, I will implement a plan to incorporate ePortfolios into the curriculum and provide a significant learning environment so students can reach their maximum learning potential. This will prepare students with adequate foundational skills to build upon future learning opportunities.

Influencer Strategy

After establishing my why a part of implementing my innovation plan and creating change are the different strategies we explored; one was the influencer strategy. The influencer Model is an approach to behavior change that emphasizes the power of interpersonal relationships and accountability in driving positive outcomes. Individuals are more likely to enact long-lasting behavioral changes if peers, influencers, or team members reinforce their decisions by offering support for motivation and setting realistic goals.

Installing 4DX with Your Organization

Next is the 4DX strategy. The 4 Disciplines of Execution is a roadmap for how teams and individuals can execute their most important goals. The disciplines consist of the following:

  1. Focusing on the wildly important.

  2. Acting on lead measures.

  3. Keeping score.

  4. Create a cadence of accountability.

Using these four steps, one can create an environment that fosters success over time and build effective habits that ensure long-term goal achievement.

Self-differentiated leadership & Crucial Conversations

The final stage of change is having difficult conversations with people.
Using and implementing the framework of the crucial conversation is an important aspect of being a self-differentiated leader. Self-differentiation involves taking ownership of your thoughts, feelings, values, intentions, and perspectives while allowing others to do the same without judgment or interference.
